For a client in an enterprise environment I fully automated multi-stage load balancer environments with keepalived and HAProxy via Ansible and AWX, including monitoring integration and OpenShift patch days. I apply the same principles to smaller companies, usually in a much leaner form.
What is included
- Development of playbooks and reusable roles following best practices, including Molecule tests
- Introduction of AWX or Ansible Automation Platform with permission concept, credentials and schedules
- Automated patch days for Linux servers, Kubernetes and OpenShift clusters with maintenance windows
- Configuration management for web servers, databases, firewalls, monitoring agents and backup clients
- Provisioning of VMs on Proxmox VE, XCP-ng, Hetzner Cloud or other platforms
- Secrets management with Ansible Vault or external vaults, Git-based approval workflows
- Migration of existing shell scripts and manual runbooks into idempotent playbooks
- Training your team on the playbooks and the structure of the repository
Typical assignments
- Twenty web servers are built identically and receive security updates automatically in the maintenance window from now on.
- A load balancer cluster with keepalived is rolled out across four stages from a single repository.
- A company replaces spreadsheets and manual checklists with AWX jobs including logs.
- Every configuration must be verifiable before an audit: playbooks provide the proof at the push of a button.

Questions about this service
Is Ansible worth it with only a few servers?
From about five servers the automation pays off quickly because updates, configuration and rebuilds become reproducible. For single servers I use Ansible mainly for a documented rebuild.
Do we need AWX or is the command line enough?
For small teams Ansible with Git is often sufficient. AWX or the Automation Platform pay off when several people start jobs, permissions must be separated or schedules and logs are required.
Can you take over our existing scripts?
Yes. Existing shell scripts and runbooks are converted step by step into idempotent playbooks without interrupting operations.
Remote for companies across Austria, combined with on-site appointments in Vienna on request.
